Popeye the Sailor Man
Meets "The Man on the Flying Trapeze"

Popeye the Sailor Man was an incredibly popular cartoon that rooted itself deep into the culture of Americana. This black and white cartoon comedy featured strong Popeye - with bulging muscles and his ever-present can of Spinach (for strength).

The English Folk Song, "The Man on the Flying Trapeze" runs headlong into the likes of Popeye after the circus stuntman tries to steal his girl, Olive Oil, away from him.

Watch the sparks fly and the memories flood back as you watch this classic episode!

Burl Ives Version of
The Man on the Flying Trapeze

Burl Ives' version of "The Man on the Flying Trapeze" doesn't end with the "bad guy stuntman getting his due" like the above video but it is entertaining all the same!

Click here for the hilarious Ives' lyrics to this celebrated circus serenade!
